With the advancement of technology, the processor’s computing capabilities continue to increase, heat dissipation problem is more and more important. Cooling fan with speed controlled by temperature, can rise to energy saving and environmental protection. But now there is no dedicated fan speed driver chip, the purpose of this paper is to design a temperature-controlled speed brushless DC motor driver chip.Firstly the circuit structure is designed according to the application. Then the detailed internal circuit is designed and simulated using Spectre. In order to facilitate the later production test, test pins are defined. After the completion of the schematic design, we carried out the layout design that focuses on the diode Layout verification is carried out including DRC design rule checking, ERC electrical rule check, LVS layout and circuit diagrams of consistency check, LPE layout parasitic extraction, PRE layout parasitic resistance extraction. Then post-layout simulation is carried out to test the final performance. We use2u-30V bipolar process, this process has the advantages of low cost, high reliability etc..After chip fabrication and package, basic function and performance test are carried out and the test results show that the chip meets the design requirements. The chip implemented functions include temperature control, speed test, stall protection, stall indicator, automatic system restart. This chip merits easy use and low cost and is stepping towards market.
