With development of the global economic and improvement of people's living standard, popularization and application of electrical technology become more and more widely. New requirements in capacity and energy saving are proposed to home appliances. Therefore, to develop variable frequency-speed control technologies of single-phase to three-phase converters which are used to drive three-phase motors, is one of the most important ways to improve home appliances capacitor and energy-saving. In this paper, it is consist of permanent magnet synchronous motor control system based on single-phase to three-phase matrix converter and permanent magnet brushless DC motor control system based on single-phase to three-phase converter with small capacitor.For single-phase to three-phase matrix converter, based on separation and linking, operating principle of single-phase to three-phase matrix converter is elaborated, firstly. Mathematical expression of the converter voltage transfer coefficient is derivated. Simulation models which SPWM or SVPWM is adopted are built. Obtained results verify correctness of the mathematical expression. Permanent magnet synchronous motor control system based on single-phase to three-phase matrix converter is constructed. Vector control principle (id=0) is simply introduced. To decrease oscillations at twice source frequency caused by single-phase source, flux weakening control is introduced to traditional vector control to improve system performance. Flux weakening principle is introduced in detail. For switch losses, the switching model is studied. Finally, four simulation models are built and obtained performances (such as motor speed, current, torque, copper consumption, input power factor, switching losses, and so on) are compared and analyzed.Analytical analysis is applied for motor system driven by single-phase to three-phase converter with small capacitor, firstly. Based on the equivalent model, mathematical expressions of each variable (voltages and currents) are obtained. In the view of energy, influence of DC bus capacitance to system performance is analyzed. Control principle of permanent magnet brushless DC motor is introduced in detail, secondly. For salient-pole permanent magnet synchronous motor, implementation of flux weakening control is decribed when motor speed is system control object. Simulation models of control system are built and influence of DC bus capacitance to system performance is analyzed. Finally, experimental platform in the same capacity is built to verify control system.
