In recent years, the automobile manufacturing industry has been developing very fast in our country, with a large number of car painting production line successively establishing and putting into use, the frequency happening in accident in painting workplaces such as fire, explosion have been also increasing. How to ensure security for painting operations is an important problem in front of us. However, safety evaluation is an important technology to solve this subject. Evaluating the safety of the painting workplace, finding out the potential risk factors, then assessing harm degree of the accident, so as to put forward effective protection measures to lower the probability of the accident and reduce the loss caused by accidents. This paper developed a computer software for safety evaluation in automotive painting workplace, the main work is as follows:(1) Collecting the current48laws and regulations and national standards which are associated with car painting operations, making the laws and regulations standard file management which can be invoked at any time when using the software evaluation. Using this function can realize query laws, regulations and national standards, and it also provides printing function, this offers the basis for safety evaluation work.(2) According to the zoning of the car painting workplace, writing safe check tables which can be invoked in the software to the painting preprocessing area, painting area and painting drying area. Then we can evaluate the safety of the painting workplace according to these safety checklists.(3) By comparing several safety evaluation methods which are commonly used and more mature, compiling Dow chemical fire and explosion index method evaluation software which is suitable for automobile painting workplaces based on the seventh edition of the Dow chemical method. The software can be to evaluate the safety of the car painting technology and equipment, to calculate evaluation results such as the danger level of fire and explosion, exposed area, property damage, shutdown days and losses and so on. (4) Through analyzing the risk of the painting workplace, compiling a set of safety acceptance evaluation software which is suitable for painting workplaces according to the relevant national laws and regulations and standards. This software can conduct safety acceptance evaluation from six aspects including general layout, painting equipment safety, fire and explosion protection, electrical safety, lightning protection and anti-static and occupational hazards control before completion of construction of the workplace and after commissioning. Then giving the evaluation results, and puts forward improvement measures for unqualified parts.(5) Developing a comprehensive safety evaluation software of car painting workplaces by using Visual Basic6.0, and establishing the material coefficient and characteristics database by using Microsoft Access. This software has friendly user interface and is easy to use, the user can complete the evaluation work for the automotive painting workplace just according to the prompt and select parameters of the interface, improving the efficiency of the safety evaluation work.
