Project schedule has been regarded as the core work of the project management. Scheduling and using the project schedule scientifically and reasonably is the key to ensure the organization work of construction project orderly and realize the comprehensive benefit of whole construction project smoothly. As an important infrastructure industry in the national economy, railway is in a large-scale construction stage currently. In order to ensure the quality and efficiency of the railway construction project, considering the factors affecting the construction progress, it is of particularly importance to develop a scientific and reasonable schedule with varying production rates which more closely matches the actual construction progress for the railway construction management.Though railway construction project is the typical linear project, traditional Gantt char or network planning method is not applicable to develop this project’s schedule and show the features of construction projects. The dissertation focuses on the linear scheduling method adapting to developing railway construction schedules based on the analysis of domestic and foreign researches on the construction schedule planning. Furthermore, the time-location-based division method of influencing factors has been developed according to their time-spatial varying features. Then the theory basis of developing the schedule with varying production rates has been formed with the combination of railway construction project time-location grids.The dissertation has collected the actual construction progress data and taken use of multiple linear regression analysis determining the incidence relation between the production rates and influencing factors. Then the regression model with varying production rates based on grids could be developed. Moreover, with the combination of discussing about the location of activity entering and exiting basic grid unit, the developing of the scheduling model with varying production rates based on LSM has been realized. Finally, the practical schedule data of WuZhun railway Wu Caiwan-Jiang Junmiao sectional subgrade engineering has been utilized to verify the validity of the model.
