With the larger scale of urban rail transit network operation in our mega-cities, the network effects increasingly appear, and the features are also more complex. It will not only seriously influence the operational efficiency but also sharply increase the operational safety risk. How to accurately grasp the passenger flow under the network condition, and scientifically evaluate the load and forecast the evolution to ease the passenger congestion, which can provide the decision support for the management. Improving the organizational level and the passenger service have become the key issues that need the operational management department to solve.This paper is relied on the national "12th Five-Year" Science and Technology Support Project-Key technologies and systematic development of urban rail transit network operation and safety (2011BAG01B02), and studies the passenger mode evolution mechanism of urban rail transit network operation. Based on the analysis of the physical topology and the passenger propagation characteristics, the network characteristics and the mode are in-depth analyzed. The passenger flow model and the property index are proposed, and the passenger mode dynamic evolution model is constructed based on the cellular automata, and finally is simulated by the actual data. Therefore, the main contents are as follows:(1) Analyzing the passenger flow characteristic of urban rail transit networkOn the analysis of the passenger static and dynamic propagation characteristics of urban rail transit network operation, the passenger and the train space-time field characteristics are studied. The network passenger mode is defined, and the mode characteristics are discussed from the network traffic and passenger flow conservation principle.(2) Building the traffic flow model and mode characteristics evaluation index of urban rail transit networkBased on the graph theory, the topology map is abstracted from the physical structure of urban rail transit network. The passenger flow model and the mode index are built on the basis of affecting the passenger factors between the station and the section in urban rail transit.(3) Proposing the passenger mode dynamic evolution model based on the cellular automata(CA)Relying on urban rail transit operation network topology, the station and the section passenger dynamic model are respectively established based on CA. The network passenger dynamic evaluation law is summarized through the station and the section passenger index level, and the mode characteristics are analyzed at different time.(4) Simulation and applicationTaking part of Beijing urban rail transit network for example, the corresponding passenger parameters are analyzed basing on the survey data, and finally it accordingly is simulated by using MATLAB and draws the relevant conclusion to ease passenger congestion.
