Aimed at the automotive lead-acid battery’s low charging efficiency and disability of mass nondestructive charging of the car brigade of shenyang military region, the equalizing charge is studied and there is very important practical significance. As the energy storage and backup power supply equipment, lead-acid battery is the most widely used battery. Lead-acid battery is an important component of the electric vehicles, and determines the performance of electric vehicles to a large extent The high power of electric vehicles requirements multiple batteries to be series-connected, so the multiple batteries often are charged as a whole in order to improve the charging rate. Due to the difference in battery charging performance, the charging speed of different battery is different, which causes the overcharge and undercharge and reduces the life of the battery pack. So researching an effective equalization charging method, and balancing the battery inconsistency in the charging process, to prevent the overcharge and undercharge and prolong the battery pack life, which is of great significance. This paper makes the theory and experimental study of the series lead-acid battery equalization and pulse charging system, the main research content is as follows:Firstly, the paper studied the characteristics of the lead-acid battery and the reasons of the inconsistency of charging performance, and analyzed the necessity of equalization charge on series battery. In the basis of existing equilibrium circuit and equilibrium control method, an pause and equalization charge system which based on resistance sharing voltage is studied, and the battery charging model and equalization control model are builded. The circuit system which include drive module, balancing module, current and voltage detecting module, serial communication module, etc. At the same time, the programming software Keil uVision3is used to develop and debug control program, which makes all the modules act synergistically to realize the intelligent and equalization charge, and realizes the on-line monitoring and real-time controlling of charging status.Combining theory and experiment, we improved the equalization control strategy, and established the optimization model of control parameter, determined the parameter range which is helpful to improve the efficiency and balancing effect. Based on the experiment of equalization charge of two and three batteries in series, we built the charging model of multiple batteries, analyzed the comprehensive relationship among the number of batteries in series and balancing effect and charging time, Put forward a new series-parallel mixed charging mode which could achieve the batch and fast charge of batteries in series, analysed its applicability in the field.
