Optical Fiber Composite Low-voltage Cable(Optical Fiber Composite Low-voltageCable,OPLC)is a low voltage cable with capability of electricity transferring and opticalcommunication compounded of low voltage optical units, is a low voltage cable with capability ofelectricity transferring and optical communication compounded of low voltage optical units.PFTTH is in Low voltage communication access network, lay fiber with the low voltage powerline, carry electricity information collection, intelligent power two-way interaction, multi-networkintegration business to implement smart meters to home. As an important product of user accessin smart power grids construction, it is important guarantee of running the whole power grids forOPLC to run safely when it works under rated current-carrying capacity and temperature rangewhich should be confirmed therefore. Due to the complexity and particularity of traditionalcable’s structures, it is difficult to undergo real-time distribution measurement analysis in theinternal temperature field. OPLC internal optical fiber can be used as temperature measuringoptical fiber with R-OTDR to achieve the quick and distributed temperature measurement. In thispaper, finite element COMSOL Multiphysics are utilized to simulate internal temperature field ofOPLC so that a curve graph of the changing temperature is drawn and a theoretical basis isestablished to monitor internal temperature of the cable and confirm current-carrying capacity.Simulate internal temperature field under different running status of low voltage compositequadded cable. The results show that current changes will influence change of temperature field. The paper hereby raises a proposal of symmetric placement of temperature measuring opticalfibles, which provides a thereotical fundition for using R-OTDR to measure temperature ofOPLC.
