Entering the information age, the automobile has become the indispensablemeans of transportation and people demand more and more of it. Especially in itsmodeling aspect, artistic modeling of the car not only can reflect the excellenceperformance of the automobile, but also meet the aesthetic requirements ofpeople.The automobile has been past more than120years. During its evolution, theimportant part-wheel hub, which usually holds the safty of driver and passengersin an automobile, changes its appearance in shape, structure, function, materials,color, and size.The main content of this paper are:(1)This article tries to investigate historical information, and searchesafter the evolvement of the appearance of wheel hub. It analyses the extensiveinfluence of external factor to the appearance of wheel hub; seeks after the earlyautomobile’s wheel modeling in the19thcentury in chronological order; analyzesthe process from single-spokes and two-spoke to three-spoke and four-spokewheel hub appearance in the evolvement after the birth of cars from in the truesense; researches the development of modern automobile wheel hub modeling,including common ones and concept ones; summarizes the changes of wheel hubcolor from single color to various considering driver’s psychology andphysiology; and the changes of wheel hub materials from the early steel wheelinto now light alloy wheels. Meanwhile it analyzes three important elements inevolvement of wheel hub likes "humanity design","coordinating relations inautomobile body overall modeling" and "use of high-tech". Focus on thecharacteristics of Germany car wheel hub modeling, this paper analysesautomobile wheel hub, that come from different countries like America, Japanand South Korea, from the form symbols, color symbols and material symbolsthree modeling language perspective. (2)This paper selects10German car hub as the concrete researchobject.The10models belong to different styles. At the same time, I collectvocabulary of the hub description in the same way. This paper establishes thecorresponding relationship between the perceptual image and other elements ofthe car hub of consumers by EXCEL data collation and principal componentanalysis method, in order to analyze the consumers like of the wheel designelements.The hub modeling method is diversity. Standard emission type wheelmodeling method is the simplest. This paper uses the change of the basic type toshow the hub modeling changes.(3)On the base of the research work, the paper designed a small car wheelhub design scheme. Firstly, according to the national standards, it usesPro/Engineer software to establish the entity model of the hub. And then themodel is imported into ANSYS Workbench. Secondly, according toQC/T221-1997standard of automobile aluminum alloy wheel hub performancerequirements and test methods of the fatigue test requirements stipulated to applythe load. Finally, this article analyses its strength and make its reliable predictionon bending fatigue life of wheel hub.(4)According to the summary of different conceptual design of hub, thispaper analysis and forecast the future direction of development of car hub in thecoming decades.In a word, the main research results of this paper is according to the timesequence, the evolution of automobile hub color, material, such as theappearance of the other elements are analyzed; on this basis, using principalcomponent analysis method to establish the model of data analysis, get theconsumer for the German car wheel hub other preferences and sample shapedesign corresponding relationship, constructing hub modeling principle; and onthe basis of standard emission type hub modeling method and the structure finiteelement analysis of the hub design practice.
