DC generator is widely used in various field, the quality of the generator performance is directly related to the stable running of the generator and the safe operation of the system. How to correctly and conveniently test to ensure that the generator parameters and performance is the people most concerned about, and all walks of life have higher requirements on the generator parameters and performance testing.In this paper, with the vehicle generator test development projects, according to the principle of DC generator performance testing and test standard, based on LabVIEW virtual instrument technology, I research and design of the generator test platform, and use Lab VIEW software programming to achieve automated testing of the DC generator performance. For the main items of the generator test, I set out the testing methods and procedures of a variety of testing parameters in the design of DC generator test.In terms of hardware design, according to control and processing requirements of each parameter, I design the mechanical structure and electrical structure, select electrical equipments, sensors and data acquisition cards corresponded with the requirements, set up a experimental test platform. Through powerful bus communication, I design an automatic test system which combines the performance testing, process control, data acquisition and recording with status monitoring.On the research of curve fitting method in test system, I analyzed the merits of different mobile least square methods, then I proposed the mobile least square method based on Taylor basis function, Proved that it can effectively improve the stability of the calculation and curve fitting.In the software design of the DC generator testing system. I detailed design of man-machine interface based on LabVIEW, achieve the data collection and monitoring, the accessing to the database and the analysis and management of experimental data and historical data. Finally, through the experiments designed for the motor performance test, on one hand, draw the generator characteristic curve according to the experimental data which the test system gained; on the other hand, we can test the generator steady-state and transient power performance, transmitted the result to the host computer after the oscilloscope acquisition and compared with the appropriate testing standards to determine whether the generator performance to meet the requirements. Through the design and implementation of automated test systems in this article, we can make an objective assessment to the performance of the motor and provide the basis to further improve the design of generator.
