The common saying of ‘Ownership’，‘house is wealth’，these traditional thoughts affect people a lot，so to keep property for the futuregenerations，and it does not feel like a house if you do not have the ownership. Sono matter the size，as they have the conditions people have to buy house，thehouse as their own.It is as people said ‘East or west，home is the best’.But while the rapidly growing of price， the growing is too large， large sizehouses has become a minority of wealthy people can afford the ‘Luxury’. And it becomespopular in the working-class.Due to the small size of the economical apartment，it must has variousfunctions in a very limited space，so that the design become more challenging， itrequires the designer to have high level designing skills，talent and creativity.Ineconomical apartments，every details no matter bedroom，kitchen， bathroom andporch etc. should fully take into account of people’s usability， comfort，practical applicability and artistry.So by using the little space to make people see the ‘big’from visually，feelings and using to achieve the satisfaction of psychological andspiritual of people.In order to achieve a better living environment，improve thequality of life，optimize the happiness index to achieve the objectives of harmonybetween people and space，people and people， people and society.Make theeconomical apartments into truly comfortable living place，convenient，safe andbeautiful home，meet the requests of personalized and adaptable family life.There are five chapters in this thesis which divided into four parts.The firstpart is the first chapter，the introduction，which describes the background ofeconomical apartment living， researches，other purposes，social significance andsummarises the research status of economical apartment living. Second part is thesecond chapter，introduce the history and current situation of the developmentstatus of the living space，followed by the basic theory expounded economicalapartment living space，then the definition of the analysis of small family houseliving in residential communities and their needs.Third part includes chapterthree and four，mainly talks about the issue of small units of residential livingspace design researches，seeks to explore more economical apartment on designcontent，concepts，principles and methods etc.which is the core part of this thesis.The fourth part is the fifth chapter， boldly predicted the future trends ofeconomical apartments and analysis of how to make people have a morecomfortable，convenient and beautiful living space and the way of living.
