Microwave communication has an important effect on security of the power network operation, as an important method in electric power emergency communication system. But microwave communication by main method of sign-of-light cannot meet more and more requirements for electric power communication according to enlargement of electric power system range and complexity of the landform. In order to break the transmission bottleneck of sign-of-light microwave, therefore it is necessary to develop microwave BLOS electric power emergency communication system, which can increase the communication distance and improve the applicability of landform.First of all, channel characteristics of microwave BLOS with multi-modes are researched beginning with microwave BLOS channel in the paper, which has many transmission modes, LOS, diffraction, diffraction&scattering and scattering. And channel characteristics are analyzed completely from different angles such as channel transmission mode, link forecast method, channel measure method and test results, which provide important information for transmission technology design. Based on channel characteristics research, according to present microwave communication technology system, the key technologies are figured out theoretically and simulated completely, which are anti-fading technology, frequency offset estimation and correction and efficient coding technology. A demo of microwave BLOS communication system by multi-mode integralization method is designed and implemented. At last, inner test and system test of the demo system are carried out, and the system performance is analyzed. The test results show that the designed system meet the prospective design requirements, that lay the foundation for application and perform an important function in power system in the future.
