For the past few years, With the rapid development of economic and the acceleratingurbanization process, overpopulated, urban spread and traffic congestion occurs in the bigcities of China and has the rising trend. Since the main modes of transport of China’surban residents are walking, bicycle and bus, the travel range is limited, the urban landform is single center city layout, with downtown congested. With single central citysuffering from the co-existence of the unreasonable urban traffic structure, it damages theurban traffic and environment and so on. Some big cities of our country put forwardpoly-centers space development pattern. This pattern reduces population density of cityand alleviates the pressure of city through rational urban layout and develops the urbancentralized and decentralized edge group and the satellite towns, but it hasn’t made theextreme expansion momentum of downtown restrained yet. This is mainly because toomuch emphasis is put on center, and the effect of dispersion is ignored in the process ofplanning; Promotion and guidance of the traffic system for urban space is ignored; Urbantraffic system has not been established with rapid rail transit as the backbone.According to the contradiction between the urban space rapid expand in the newperiod and urban traffic construction lag, the domestic part of the city has been basicallyestablished the high density of rail transit development plans. Rail transportation utilizesthe urban transportation system of underground and ground to constitute dimensionaltraffic system, makes full use of urban space to promote and guide the formation ofreasonable urban structure. Reasonable rail traffic planning will not only directly affectcity overall layout and function orientation, play a positive role in guiding the urban landutilization, industrial layout and population reasonable distribution, but also can promotethe healthy development of urban economy and the continuous improvement of theecological environment.Wuhan is known as " thoroughfares of nine provinces", but the pattern of "two riverssegmentation, composed of tripartite confrontation" makes city traffic problem a bighardship concerned with the development of Wuhan. Built in the1950s "miles Yangtze river first bridge", adds a new face to Wuhan urban development. Wuhan,as a maindeveloping city of national central region, the experience in such aspects of urbandevelopment patterns and traffic system regulation is the foremost concern of urbantraffic planning workers. As a new round of urban construction, Wuhan urban rail transitconstruction also enters into a period of rapid development. This not only has a significantimpact on the life of citizens, but also puts forward new requirements to urban landscapeand urban construction.This article is based on the characteristics of the current urban rail transportation inWuhan and current situation of Wuhan urban rail transit development, combined withWuhan city space and urban rail transit system, with analyzing the influence of differentspace elements to urban spatial development, proposes the interaction of urban space andrail transit, probes the coordinate methods in the function, scale and form, and strengthensthe combine between urban rail traffic and urban space, to reach the goal of adaptation tothe humane and diversified demands of Wuhan.Taken the relationship between rail transit and urban space layout in Wuhan as anobject, this article has three parts.The first part takes Wuhan as an example, sorting the relative concepts of urbanspace and urban rail transit, to clear the particularity of Wuhan rail transit;The second part makes summary of the development of urban rail transit and cityspace layout at home and abroad, on the basis of absorbing the experience andachievement of domestic and foreign related research and case, puts forward settlement ofadaption and guidance of rail transit to space distribution respectively, conformity ofrelationship between the two levels, and arrangement of the sequence of correspondingdevelopment of rail transit development according to specific stage to achievecoordinated development of rail transit and urban space layout.The third part takes Wuhan for the empirical case, examines the typical site throughon-the-spot investigation, and analyzes correlation between urban spatial forms aroundtrack traffic from multiple angles, makes analysis of the development of Wuhan railtransit and urban space layout of interaction, and puts forward tentatively strategies and suggestions of adjustment.
