The main factor affecting the smoothly travel of people is the problem of traffic congestion in our city, city traffic congestion is mainly because of the rapid development of our country’s economy, the city scale expansion, at the same time civilian vehicles also maintain rapid growth in volume year by year. City traffic congestion brings about a lot of negative effect, for example, the travel time delay, economic losses, environmental pollution.Therefore, only with in-depth study for road traffic congestion characteristics, can we formulate scientific guide demand scheme. Thus, the problem of city traffic jam has important significance for the development of the city and social progress.At present a lot of domestic and foreign scholars are paying attention to the hot issues of city traffic jam. On the basis of absorbing the domestic and foreign research results and academic, the rationale behind the article is the cellular automata theory, complex network theory, traffic flow theory and Matlab simulation method. This paper systematically study on the following contents: the classical NaSch model and BML model as well as the NaSch-BML coupling model(ChSch), city traffic accident and cascading failure, congestion control strategy. The main research contents of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, the application of cellular automata theory is introduced in the traffic, analyzing the relationship between city traffic system complexity and complex network, the essence of city traffic congestion problem is a complex network of cascading failure problem, and the problem of traffic congestion is studied from two different aspects of academic, at the same time, the important metrics of traffic flow theory are introduced in detail, it provides new ideas and direction for city traffic complex network congestion characteristics and control method.Secondly, based on Nagatani model this paper gives the initial conditions of improved NaSch and BML coupling model, the definition of traffic accident and spatial distribution;studies on the amount of traffic accident, as well as the time and spatial distribution of traffic accident. The conclusion has practical significance.Last, using the dual method, we start with a traditional road traffic network with a constructed logic network with small world characteristics, and construct the complex network of road traffic. After analyzing and comparing with other complex networks, the time delay, restorative, and other characteristics are presented for the complex network of road traffic, and then the cascading failure model of the complex network is simulated. The simulation results show that using different time delays, an incident dissipation factor and load capacity can reasonably avoid a cascading failure, and they can remove its effects. Inaddition, our results provide value and guidance for building a road traffic network that prevents and removes the cascading failure of a road network.Based on the conclusion of third chapter and the fourth chapter, this paper describes the control method of city traffic network congestion, and carries on the detailed discussion from two aspects of congestion prevention and counseling. The content and results of these studies provide new perspectives and methods to alleviate the city traffic complex network congestion, which have important theoretical reference and practical guidance significance for the city traffic network planning and management.
