In recent years, with the rapid development of economic society and urbanization process accelerating, urban traffic is in a rapid development period. Urban rail transit has become an important part in the field of urban transportation, especially in big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, and it has become an urban rail transit network, together with the urban road traffic network to handle the urban residents travel tasks. But in the existing urban traffic network, the development of urban rail transit will also bring some new challenges, such as the stability of a new urban traffic network structure, the tolerance of traffic capacity of rail transit transfer point, the adaptation of road traffic to the new rail transit line and so on; these issues need to be solved. Therefore, how to develop urban road traffic and urban rail transit harmoniously and stably has become very critical challenge in the field of urban traffic. In this paper, we combined the theory of complex network topology structure with the realities of traffic network in Beijing city (the third ring road only) and analyzed the coordinated development of urban road traffic network and urban rail transit network.First, according to the different elements of urban traffic network, the thesis systematically elaborated the basic characteristics of urban road traffic network, urban rail transit network and urban complex traffic network which is formed by the superposition of the two above.Secondly, the thesis introduced the basic concepts of complex network theory, and then proposed several concepts and calculation methods of basic statistical features of complex network theory, including degree and distribution, network diameter and average path length, clustering coefficient, betweenness and node tightness. Simultaneously, the thesis introduced the basic characteristics of several common complex network topology models, such as rules network, random graph etc.Again, based on the actual situation of Beijing’s urban traffic network, this paper use complex network topology structure theory to constructe the complex network model of urban road traffic network, urban rail transit network and urban complex traffic network which was formed by the superposition of the former two. With the calculation on urban road traffic network and urban complex traffic network, we obtained the statistical characteristic values of these two complex networks and analyzed these results, which reveals the changes of urban traffic network.Finally, through the comparative analysis of the changes in accessibility of Beijing urban road traffic network and the complex traffic network, some thoughts about the coordinated development of Beijing urban traffic network has come to a conclusion, which we hope could be scientific and consultative suggestions for the development of Beijing’s urban traffic network.
