With high-speed development of the urban railway traffic enterprise in our country, the train running speed is improving constantly and the riding quality demand is higher, so that manned driving can difficult to meet the needs of train running control. In this case, improving the automation level of trains, developing the intelligent and efficient automatic train operation system, and optimizing the train running performance indicators, such as stationarity, comfort, energy saving and accurate parking, to improve the train operational efficiency become particularly important. So far, the related research of ATO has been a lot of research results at home and abroad.Because extenics can be used to solve conflicting and contradict problems greatly. Matter-element model(extenics) is applied to the control process of the automatic train operation system study in this dissertation. As the core control algorithm of the automatic train operation system, exploring whether extenics can effectively improve performance indexes in trains running.The main contents are as follow.Firstly, the automatic train operation system(ATO) and the extenics foundation are studied. The operational principles, system structure, functions and control algorithm of the automatic train operation system are introduced. The operating mode transit conditions of the automatic train operation system and the control strategy are analyzed and debated. The basic theoretical knowledge of the extenics is summarized.Then, the extenics control algorithm of the automatic train operation system is designed. According to different performance indexes in diverse train running conditions, the matter-element models are built in traction-starting period, interval speed-regulating period and braking-stopping period. The weight values of performance indexes in different running periods are worked out with method combining analytic hierarchy process and the Mahalanobis distance method. The association degree functions are built to evaluate and quantitative dispose different performance indexes. According to the extenics goodness evaluation method, the running speed is selected during train operation.Finally, the extenics control process of the automatic train operation is simulated and analyzed. On the basic of force and kinematics analysis during train operation, according to the vehicle type and track conditions, and combining the extenics control algorithm of the automatic train operation system, the automatic train operation procession is simulated and analyzed with matlab. By comparing the simulated results can be seen, in the field of automatic train operation, the matter-element model(extenics) can meet the requirements of the stationarity and comfort, and also efficiently improve energy saving and accurate parking during the process of train operation. The rationality and effectiveness of extenics applying in the automatic train operation are well verified.
