In recent years, with the accelerating pace of modernization construction in our country and people’s living standard is growing up day by day, the consumption of industrial and civil electric power is increases year by year. In order to guarantee the social demand for power supply, it’s more and more important to maintain the power infrastructure. A distributing room contains several distributing box or cabinet, which are the last stage equipment of the power distribution system. It can supply functions of electricity power protection, monitor and control for factory, buildings, residence community and so on. At present, theft events have occurred in distributing rooms frequently. The criminals steal cable, copper platoon and other supplies in distributing room, then get profit by selling the fouls. It causes great economic losses to the people. With the development of RFID and network communication technology, it is expected to design an efficient security system for the distributing room.With the advent of IOT(Internet of Things) coming, the IOT technology is applied to every aspect of society widely, such as smart home and smart grid. As one of the important techonologies which support IOT, RFID plays a great role in the development of IOT. The RFID contractless cards which can be disabled at any time will replace traditional keys. Combining with the image acquisition, Ethernet communication and embedded technology, it can get the situation of people who comes in or out effectively and greatly improve the safety management of power distribution room. The main work and achievements are as follows:1. The RFID technology is deeply researched and a RFID reader which is working on the frequency of 13.56 MHz is designed and produced. It can read ordinary Mifare One cards and the second generation id cards. A digital camera is embedded in this card reader, and it can take photos for people who arrive in or leave the distributing room. The image data will be save in storage device for query later, which ensure the safety of the distributing room.2. The security system for distributing room is designed in B/S frame which is also named Browser and Server Mode. It means that there is no need to install software in computers. The data transmitted between server and customer is through the developed HTTP protocol. It guarantees the reliability and stability of data transmission.3. According to the design requirement, a security system for distributing rooms is designed and realization based on RFID technology. The users swipe their cards on the card reader and then the system will check if they have authority to access the distributing room. If so, the door will be open and a in/out record data will be created. The records are usually saved in SRAM or SD card. The administrator can query these records by web browser. All related functions of the security system can be operated on web.This paper researches radio frequency identification technology and realizes a security system based on RFID technology which is in combination with image identification and ethernet communication technology. The safety performance of traditional distributing room is promoted.
