With rapid growth of aerospace industry, requirement of the aerospace communication network is increasing to achieve rapid transmission of massive information. Traditional space communication network cannot meet the demand. So it’s required to achieve the integration of space communication network and ground communication network.In the ground communication network, the TCP/IP protocol has become the de facto standard. However, due to the characteristics of the space link, the IP protocol cannot be directly applied to space data link. The space communication system mainly adopts the CCSDS protocol for the transmission of IP data in space data link. Based on the project "design and implementation for the IP over CCSDS gateway", the IP over CCSDS space link protocol and RS code are analyzed in this thesis. The focus in this thesis is the design and implementation of the RS encoding and RS decoding part.Firstly, the gateway design requirements, the implementation scheme of IP over CCSDS and the principle of RS code are analyzed in this thesis. Secondly, the general structure of the gateway and the function of each module are introduced. Thirdly, via the analysis of project performance requirements and the implementation of RS code, a design scheme of mixed parallel encoding and decoding is proposed, which can realize the rapid processing of AOS frame. Finally, a test environment is built to test the gateway, and to verify the error correction capability of RS decoding module. Test results show that the RS decoding module is working properly and the performance meets the expectations. Also, the gateway meets the demand of the project.
