As an important clean energy, wind power is paid more and more attention. However, that the large wind power plant is connected with the network will cause the instability of the grid voltage environment, Therefore, it is necessary to compensate the wind power for certain reactive power. Improve the power factor of the power transmission, improve the grid connected conditions.In this paper, what be concerned is the actual situation of the low power factor of a wind farm in Ningxia is the actual situation. By comparing current power factor compensation devices, considerate from two aspects of performance and economy, selected the way that using SVG+FC as reactive power compensation of the wind power system. Then test the power performance before and after the compensation by using PSCAD simulation software. Comprehensive analysis the elevated circumstance. Specific work as follows:1.recommend the principle of reactive power compensation and the basic theory of power quality measurement, according to the actual conditions of the wind farm determine the compensation device and scheme. And determine the reference point of improving the performance of the compensation before and after the compensation.2.According to the actual situation of wind farm, establish the mathematical model of wind power and reactive power compensation including the wind power generation system model, control model and SVG model, etc. And using PSCAD power simulation software for modeling and simulation.3.Comparised the effect of only using the SVG and using SVG+FC for reactive power compensation, determine the final compensation scheme. For the parameters of the power generation system before and after the compensation, Analyzing the influence of the compensation equipment to the electric power, and analyzing its economic benefit.
