The multi-functional fully hydraulic drill rig is one of the key equipment in the construction of rock and soil engineering, which affects the quality and efficiency of construction supporting directly. With the rapid development of economy, the application of multi-functional drill rig will also mark a new situation. At present, although the security problems in the tunnel construction had been greatly improved, it didn’t change fundamentally. On the other hand, the precision of currently used equipments is not up to the required, which also affects the construction quality. Therefore, It’s of great significance to develop a kind of multi-functional drill to meet the various conditions and to adapt to complex topography.This paper took RPD-180 CBR rig from Japan mineral research industrial corp as the blueprint to determine the design requirements and the basic parameters of the machine. Based on the structure principle and technical characteristics of a detailed understanding of each functional components, the overall design proposal of multi-function drill was completed. At the same time, foreign experience of the same type of drilling rig was referenced and the practical application conditions were combined. The drilling rig has anchor, anchor cable, geological drilling, grouting micro pile, underground rotary percussion drilling and other functions in one. And a type-selection of design was made for the key components.The checking calculation was made for the centre-of-gravity position and strength of the slewing, luffing cylinder, and a movable arm connecting pin and the ear plate etc. The results show that the reliability and safety of the whole machine meet the requirements.The Abaqus software is utilized to do the finite element analysis of the arm, arm connecting piece and the intensity of the connection piece. And the stress distribution and maximum value in limit position were determined. The stress intensity of the key parts was verified from the theoretical point of view.The hydraulic system of multi-function drilling rig was designed, and the walking hydraulic system, drilling hydraulic system, drilling boom action hydraulic system was introduced, which lay the foundation for the further research.
