With long-span capability, beautiful shape, rich structural style, and lower requirement on the foundation, tied-arch bridges have been widely used in modern bridge construction. At present, finite element softwares, such as Bridges Dr, MIDAS/Civil, ANSYS etc. are usually used to solve their simulation analysis and structure mechanics problems. Because of the use of existing command flow model and dialog model of these softwares,it is difficult to express the engineering charateristic of tied-arch bridges,and low efficiency of calculation process exits.Graphic-flow technology is a new technology in solving engineering problem and establishing the model. This technology requires researchers have an in-depth analysis, research and refining in global and local characteristics, mechanical characteristics, process characteristics and experts solving technology of the engineering problems. Graphic-flow technology decomposes the modeling process into a series of sub-steps for easy implementation, and uses some of the functions to simulate the graphics object, which turns the solving and modeling process of engineering problem into a kind of realization process about creating, operating, inferring the graphics object. And it is simple to implement the simplification, integration and high efficiency in solving and modeling the engineering problem.One important procedure to design the Tied-arch bridge is the scheme design, which is consist of the selection of the structure style, the determination of the structure parameters and the mechanic evaluation of the structure, the key to get a wonderful project design is the accuracy of the mechanic evaluation and the calculations.A typical Tied-arch bridge is taken as an example in this paper, and based on the study of calculation law and feature of the Tied-arch bridge, the mechanic model is virtualized to 3D and 2D modelsusing graphic flow technology, and by creating and operating the models one can obtain the model that can calculated by Midas to make the calculations more efficient and convenient. And through the comparison of the results of calculation and the control parameters, one can get an optimum scheme.The results show the accuracy and feasibility of the model based on the graphic flow technology.
