After the automotive engine control module(ECM)be manufactured, should do the functional test. Function test is to check the quality of ECM hardware, mainly includes:system with microcontroller unit, circuit of output interface and driver. In the paper, we designed a test equipment, it can meet the test requirements of above.The test equipment first uses common electronic components to simulate the engine’s main sensor and actuator. By configuring the sensor, the ECM can loop the output of the actuator control signal. Using CAN bus protocol, testing equipment can read the related fault code from the ECM register. Through reference to the ECM manufacturer data, the tester print the result on computer. This design based on STM32F103RET6, using UART and CAN bus to communicate.In this design, through a little change in hardware and software, the equipment can be applied to different types of ECM test, and its volume is small. The Equipment has been applied to the ECM manufacturer.
