| Along with the rapid development of the urbanization in China, a number of prominent visual image landmarks stand out. Therefore, the discussion about the landmark image involving the public comes out. The research about the architectural semiotics theory started late in our country, and most of the architectural modelings rely on our own aesthetic standards and the reflection on practices. In order to improve the artistic quality of the contemporary living environment, this paper will analyze the reasons of widespread controversy about landmarks, and the specifications of city scape consisting of various architectural forms.This paper aims to research the city landmark image of the contemporary city in China, based on relevant theory about psychology, semiotics, images, and combined with the city’s own natural features, cultural heritage and morphological characteristics. First, it will analyze the style and characteristics and the aesthetic process of the city landmark from epistemology aspect.And then it introduces some practice cases and explores the causes of landmark’s formation and the influences with landmark semiotics and semantic connotations of the building. What’ s more, it bases the analysis of building landmark images on emotion. By explaining architectural semiotics language and exploring the place images, the author will achieve the relatively metaphysical perception of emotion and hope it can provide the theoretical reference for the development of the city landmark. |
