The current age is an age of electronic information. The electromagnetic environment we live in is getting more and more complicated due to the expansion of the electronic products field, the integration and elaboration level of electronic systems, as well as other natural factors. For in- vehicle communication system, what electromagnetic protection measures could be taken to maintain the normal performance of the system under the complex electromagnetic environment is a problem faced by the engineers and designers. Besides, how to assess the electromagnetic shielding performance after taking electromagnetic protection measures is another problem remains to be solved. Thus, this study takes in- vehicle communication system as research object and electromagnetic shielding performance e valuation as research objective. The electromagnetic protection evaluation index system is established, and the comprehensive assessment on in- vehicle communication system’s electromagnetic protection is realized.To begin with, the key factors that influence the system’s electromagnetic protection performance are analyzed. Based on the index system constructing procedure, the associations among all indicators(factors) are studied, the common indicators of electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic protection are identified, and the integrated index system of in- vehicle communication system’s electromagnetic protection is established following the top down procedure. Targeted to the networked layered structure of the established index system and according to Multiple Attribute Decision Making Theory, modified ANP-TOPSIS comprehensive assessment method is adopted to assesses the in- vehicle communication system’s electromagnetic protection comprehensively, including quantifying the sub-criterion layer(design layer) indicators, calculating the close degree of the criterion layer indicators, and evaluating the protective performance rating of the target layer. Lastly, practical example is carried out to verify the feasibility and rationality of the evaluation method this research mentions, which lays solid foundation for future study.
