Nowadays, with the growing energy crisis and bursting environmental problems, the idea of sustainable architectural design is attracting more attention. At the same time, the rapid development of computer hardware and software technology also provided new opportunities for the development of architectural design. The cooling effect of water landscape is taken as the starting point of this paper, where the working method and parameter system of architectural form generation that base on the integrated micro-climate design is tried to establish, with the help of parametric design methods and programming platform. And then the rationality of this form generation method is showed through the design practice on the assumptive project.The study is based on two theories. One is the response of architectural form to water landscape theory; the other one is form generation and performance-driven theory. The study explains the form generation method based on the cooling effect of water landscape theory, and then interprets the features and functions of the form generation technology platform; further lists a workflow framework to organize the methods of architectural form generation.There are three steps in explaining the workflow framework. The first is deciding the logic of the form generation, which can be subdivided into three parts. They are environmental response strategy, block functions and geometrical control elements. The second step is compiling the generation control program, which is also classified and presented the process of compilation. Finally the last step is discussing how the process of form generating would be when under the guidance of program.This paper studies on the environmental response and the form generation, trying to present a progressive working method and an improved parameter system of the environmental response-based form generation. In practice, the application of the Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, C# programming software and Phoenics offers a convenient way to finish the process of the assumptive project. However, limited by inexperience and superficial knowledge, the actual design only is a preliminary expression. At the end of the paper, a conclusion is made to manifest the advantage and limitation of architectural form generation strategy based on the cooling effect of water landscape. Furthermore a new prospect of this topic is displayed.
