Study On Spatial And Architectural Characteristics Of "Living Around Water" Natural Village In South Jiangsu And The Continuity

"Living around water" natural village is a typical village form in South Jiangsu. The characteristics of the village gradually vanish, while new rural construction in South Jiangsu gains great achievements. This paper studies spatial and architectural characteristics of "living around water" natural villages, in hope of further cognizing and exploring characteristics of "living around water" natural villages in South Jiangsu, and explores the strategy to continue spatial and architectural characteristics of the village while meeting production and living demands of contemporary villagers and guaranteeing sustainable development of the village, in hope of providing opinions and reference for some common problems faced in the work of new rural construction and village cultural protection in progress, protecting and inheriting spatial and architectural characteristics of "living around water" natural villages in South Jiangsu.This paper first summarizes domestic and overseas research theories and practices concerned, takes multiple "living around water" natural villages in South Jiangsu for example, analyzes the space and building of natural villages in combination of field investigation and case analysis, and generalizes the characteristics of space framework, space joint, community space and building.Then, aiming at the phenomenon that development and changes of natural villages cause that the characteristics gradually vanish, this paper carries out comprehensive analysis and proposes corresponding principles and measures for continuing spatial and architectural characteristics. Finally, the author, in combination of two cases in which the author participated in planning and governance of "living around water" natural villages in South Jiangsu, applies the continuity strategy in planning and governance practice according to different current situations of the two villages.
