The refractive is an important physical parameters index in transparent, translucent material optical media, grasping the changes in the refractive index of the material which can understand its optical properties, and can convert its purity values and concentration.The optical instrument of detecting the refractive index is called refractometer, which is widely used in petroleum industry, paints industry, food industry, daily chemical industry and sugar industry. In order to adapt the wider range of needs for the market, this paper presents a intelligent digital refractometer, which can detect not only the refractive index and Brix of transparent,translucent liquid, but also the refractive index of solid independent detection. The main content of this article is to design and optimize the optical systems and mechanical systems.The paper described several methods and principles of measuring the refractive index,and expound Abbe refractometer measurement principle in-depth which is based on the principle of total internal reflection. ①Based on this, to design the final instrument optical system solutions applied on the experimental apparatus. Intelligent digital refractometer optical system is mainly composed by the illumination system, the refractive systems,imaging systems, data acquisition system. Selected Abbe refractometer based on the principle of total reflection method.② then design the illumination system to select the sodium yellow LED as the light source, while the condenser structure is designed. In refractive systems, parameter calculation process of the prism is described; In the imaging system, a theaperture diaphragm structure is designed and linear CCD image sensor is selected. ③finally made a detailed analysis about the performance of the entire optical path in the article,then optimized the design to finish the final optical system solutions.In the stage of mechanical design and optimization on experimental prototype, the paper described the its hardware prototype, and design a set of experimental apparatus according to the experimental requirements, do experiments on the prototype afterprocessing and assembly. The content include: analysis of lighting systems, refractive systems, connecting frame group, an imaging lens group, CCD installation group, the overall structure of the prototype design and key technologies. After the test is completed,optimization of the source group structure, refractive prism, connecting frame components have been done. Have a detailed description for the shell design, selection and other external components in the paper. While conduct a detailed analysis for connecting frame which is a key support member, using finite element analysis software and process analysis software-Deform.ultimately we get the overall program diagram for the finished prototype.Finally, experiments carried out relevant validation. Briefly explain the whole system work flow, connect the experimental prototype to the circuit hardware and programmed by software operating procedures, conduct experiments in different environments, collection and analysis of experimental data. Experimental results show that the instrument optical structure designed to meet the requirements.
