The city park is an important part of urban green space system, and also the major urban recreation areas for city residents. Whether residents can quickly and easily enter the park and enjoy the public service facilities, which is an important indicator for city livable level. The current evaluation system for urban green space focuses on the rate of green space and the per capita park area, which only aim at quantity measurement. So it lacks qualitative and quantitative analysis and evaluation for city parks layout rationality and the convenience for city park accessibility. The green park accessibility could reflect the possibilities and potential of the services to residents. As a new city green space evaluation index, it has been widely recognized. According to differences of network characteristics, accessibility can be recognized as geometric network and topological network reachability. Currently, the evaluation methods to green park accessibility are mainly based on geometric network. Accessibility based on topological network pays more attention on people, logistics, information flow morphology due to potential movement of density distribution space, considering the psychological accessibility, in which the green parks accessibility evaluation system could be complemented from new aspects. In this paper, the author applies theory and methods of space syntax to innovative existing research ideas of the park accessibility in terms of topological network, with software analysis platforms such as Depthmap, GIS, ENVI and SPSS, to quantify city park topological accessibility and explore the potential relation between usage condition of city parks and spatial patterns. Through the establishment and verification of Wuhan city and park syntactic model as well as variable index analysis, the author evaluates syntactic accessibility of Wuhan comprehensive parks and draws following conclusions:According to park syntax model values, the syntactic accessibility of comprehensive city parks in Wuhan could be divided into six degrees. The highest accessibility level includes Zhongshan Park, Little South Lake Park and the Island Park, whose average local Integration value(the range of 2km in radius) of road network within those buffer areas is above 140. The parks in lowest level of accessibility are Xiaomo Mountain Park and Ma’anshan Forest Park. Overall, the spatial layout of comprehensive parks in Wuhan is largely rational. Firstly, above 85% of the parks are located in the high-accessibility regions of city; Secondly, those parks with the highest spatial topological accessibility are concentrated in Hankou core area; Finally, the grade distribution of comprehensive parks’ syntactic accessibility maintains a high consistency with the Wuhan urban population density distribution and urban heat island effect. However, partial next-highest integrated sub-central areas lack comprehensive parks, and a few park entrances are not integrated perfectly with surrounding high accessibility road network. So some improvement could be implemented in the future.
