As the infrastructure construction grows faster, the land resource becomes shorter. The retaining wall is widely used in infrastructure project because of his adavanced capacity. The structure of retaining wall and the design idea grow as the retaining technology develop very fast. The retaining wall with anchor is a new light-weight retaining structure developed in recent years. It is used to save land resource and improve the bearing capacity of the wall. The paper used numerical test, model test and theoretical analyst to study the bearing capacity of retaining wall with anchor. Firstly, model test was designed based on the similarity theory. Rankine soil pressure theory was used to design the model test. The distribution of soil pressure, displacement and anchor force were studied in different soil filling height. Second, the numerical test was designed based on model test with FLAC 3D geotechnical engineering software, validating the result of model test. The design parameters were optimized. Third, theoretical analyst was done based on the model test and numerical test. Design formulas of retaining wall with anchor was provided. The main conclusions as follows:1. Based on similarity theory, bearing capacity model test of retaining wall with anchor was designed. The results showed that the lateral soil pressure became larger first, then smaller with the depth. The anchor acts as a cross beam, which showed a obvious space capture effect to the vertical transfer of soil pressure, group anchor effect should be considered in anchor tension. The suitable prestressing force to the anchor is helpful to improve the stability of retaining wall with anchor.2. Based on the design parameter of model test, numerical test was confirmed. Numerical procedure was designed to validate the data of model test. The influence of different factors to the bear capacity of retaining wall was studied. The best anchor height, the prestressing force and the applicability of retaining wall in different soil was studied.3. Based on the result of model test and numerical test, soil pressure computing method was found, which provided the basement for the design and construction of retaining wall with anchor.4. Numerical test was used to study the influence of prestressing loss, soil strength attenuation and the water to the retaining wall. Retaining wall instability model test was designed. The soil pressure and displacement of retaining wall with anchor were studied in the situation of cyclic loading, uneven settlement of soil and anchor relaxation.
