The short circuit fault is one of the most serious fault, Once happened, it will do great harm to the operation of the power system and electrical equipment.We can use the software of PSASP to establish a model of the power short circuit system. It is convenient for us to simulate the different types of fault. Also it can be easily to work out the fault transient and steady state data. We can deal with power system fault practically,which may occur at any time or anywhere in real life,This paper first on the short circuit of electric power system is briefly introduced, analyzed the basic principle of operation of the circuit and its operation characteristic, and undertook theoretical analysis for the symmetry and asymmetric fault process. Then we establish a unified model of short circuit system for four kinds of different fault types, respect to its steady process and that use current work, working plan and The Thevenin equivalent impedance in PSASP for data analysis. Finally, according to the simulation results, find out the characteristics of the different short circuit fault and the future direction of development of the PSASP.
