In recent years, the electric power industry in Ningxia sustained and rapid development, the total electricity consumption grew rapidly, effectively promote the rapid development of Ningxia power grid. Ningxia power grid has become a complex power grid of ultra-high voltage, large unit, AC-DC interconnected, the rapid growth of new energy. In order to meet the electricity of the entire society, Ningxia power grid short-circuit current level has greatly improved, some substations’ circuit breaker interrupting capacity has been unable to meet the requirements of breaking, which seriously put the power grid’s safety and soundness at risk. The short-circuit current limit problem, has gradually become one of the main contradiction of the development of Ningxia power grid, which one of the factor restricting the development.To carry out analysis of Ningxia power grid short-circuit current research, it has important significance to improve the level of Ningxia power grid operation, effectively promote the healthy development of Ningxia power grid.This paper based on Ningxia power grid frame structure, the calculation programs of PSASP short-circuit current analysis of Ningxia power grid,and according to the development trend of the power grid, the main substations of limit short-circuit current limitation measures, the local power grid structure adjustment suggestion. The calculation results show that, through the reasonable arrangement of unit start-up mode and the adjustment of the local power grid electrical contact, effectively reduce the short-circuit current level of the station, to ensure the safe operation of power grid. At the same time, the limit in the main transformer neutral grounding via small reactance in series, is also suitable for the follow-up of Ningxia power grid 330/220 kV electromagnetic loop network, the voltage level of the short-circuit current can be controlled in a reasonable range.
