Purpose-The purpose of this research paper is to scrutinize the impact of the 2008 Economic Crisis on the Role of Ports in the Global Supply Chain. A Case Study was conducted on Jamaica’s Port Industry using the Delphi Method.Design/methodology/approach-A group of experts from the Port Industry in Jamaica were consulted. The Delphi Method was employed to analyse and identify the impact of the 2008 economic crisis on the role of ports within the global supply chain.Findings-This paper has identified the different factors which contributed to the change in port operations as a result of the 2008 economic crisis.Originality/value-This paper provides practitioners with a methodology for analyzing the impact of the economic crisis on the role of ports within the global supply chain.
