X-band Marine radar have very good reflection characteristics of radar waves reflected from the sea by the sea wind, wave, water surface oil as well as seabed topography of the modulation effect. Clutter contains a lot of very valuable information. Based on the Bragg scattering of the radar echoes and Doppler frequency shift theory, wave observations of ocean currents and marine oil spill can be made by X-band marine radar. To obtained waves information, we should process radar images miscellaneous wave with separation extraction enhanced and analysis processing, effectively getting flow, velocity, depth, and spilling oil. Based on those technology, X-band marine radar measuring wave system, as next-generation waves monitoring equipment as marine observation and application, is getting mature, which is a great added function for existed ship navigation radar.Research of continuous radar image sequence can be divided into two directions: waves spectrum and image spectrum.waves spectrum is a description waves phenomenon of nature, can be used to get wave’s features parameter:using radar image signal and noise ratio and linear return equation analysis sea effective wave high, from frequency direction spectrum we can obtain peak wave temporary and direction, using centroid formula determines peak frequency, using wave number equation of radar image obtain peak wavelength; Image Spectra calculated wave region of different intensity from a macro perspective, using wave suppression effect of the spill oil, the distinction between oil spill oil spill at sea and non-sea can be found.This paper mainly discusses the use of Marine radar image as a source and remote sensing information. Image data comes from X-band marine radar and WAVEX analysis equipment in Dalian Maritime University’s teaching and training ship YUKUN In July 16th 2010 when Dalian Xingang oil spill accident happened. Reasonably analysis sea clutter data to identified method of extracting waves and oil spill by x-band marine navigation radar.
