Heart failure is the most challenging epidemic cardiovascular disease faced by the people in 21th century and causes the major death of human beings in global. The only way to survive the lives of the end-stage heart failure patients is the heart transplant and consquently, developing the artificial heart pumps is a hot research topic today. Artificial heart pumps make the blood flow in the body of patients to accomplish some of the functions of the heart of human being by mechanical movement. In the view of the questions that continuous pumps have a high blade speed which could damage blood cells and cause hemolysis, this dissertation proposes a novel miniscule nutation pump for the heart-assist, and the researches on the feasibility analysis, simulation, experiments for the novel miniscule nutation pump have been accomplished.The moving part in the proposed miniscule nutation pump is a disk with spherical bearing. While working, the disk in circular chamber is nutating around the axis of the disk at the autorotation speed of zero and drives the fluid circling in the circular chamber. By separating the circular chamber with a baffle plate, the disk movement could creat fluid suction and discharge in a certain direction. The proposed miniscule nutation pump without one-way valve has the advantages of small volume, low rotational speed and high volumetric flow rate.The mathematical modelling on flow discharge calculation is established and the flow discharge equation is obtained on the basis of the reseaches on the operational principle and working process of the miniscule nutation pump. Then, the pump design parameters are determined and the structure design is completed. Furthermore, the three-dimensional modelling of the nutation pump is established and the simulation is completed in Solidworks.The kinematic equaion of the nutation disk is deduced and this provides the basis of the simulation. The flow field model of the pump is established and meshing grids are divided in the Fluent software enviroment. The curve of volumetric flow rate, velocity vector diagram, pressure nephogram and shear stress nephogram in the internal pump are further obtained based on the simulation in Fluent.Finally, the manufacturing, assembling and principle experiments for the miniscule nutation pump are processed. The experimental comparative results are obtianed under the conditions of the same nutating speed and different pressures between inlet and outlet.
