In recent years, in order to meet the increasing needs of the world trade for maritime transport, the number of ship is increasing, ship presents a specialized, large-scale and high speed development trend. While the risk of ship collisions and other maritime accidents is increasing, making the maritime security has become a prominent issue, the study of the ship’s maneuverability widespread attention. Ship maneuvering index K and T is one of the important indicators to measure the performance of ship maneuvering. To master ship maneuverability index K and T for safe navigation and manipulation of decision-making is important. Based on the research ship maneuvering application needs, put forward a simple calculation of ship maneuverability index K and T, in order to make up for the inadequacy of the existing main calculation methods, at the same time, optimize the application of ship maneuvering index K and T. The main research contents are as follows:(1)On the basis of in-depth analysis of physical meaning and main calculation methods of index K and T. Ship intelligent control simulation research platform as a test platform, using the platform integrates advanced and high precision of DMI ship model experiment manipulated. For the major existing calculation method of index K and T, researching on the zig-zag experiment calculation method and method for estimating the regression formula.(2) A simple calculation method of ship maneuvering index K and T is proposed. On the basis of in-depth analysis of ship maneuvering index K and T, based on ship turning put forward the simple calculation method of ship maneuvering index K and T, using Visual C + + 6.0 as the programming tool for programming the method, And compared with the existing calculation method of the main verification and error analysis.(3) According to the ship maneuverability index in the application of the first-order response mathematical model, First-order response model by using MATLAB software to implement the simulation of ship cycle track and heading angle. According to ship steering geometry relationship of center gravity and the revolving of the ship in the process, the data and model cycle test data are compared, accordingly propose a verification method of ship maneuvering index K and T, at the same time using the Simulink software to implement the simulation.(4) Application optimization of ship maneuvering index K and T. In order to facilitate the practical application, using the MATLAB software design the Graphical User Interface of index K and T application simulation. The high accuracy of ship maneuverability index K and T by ship motion response model is applied to the research of intelligent VTS, and provide important reference information for decision-making for the ship maneuvering, developing the application of ship maneuvering index K and T.
