The hydraulic engineering hub navigation is one of important part of hydropowerengineering. It has been tested through a series of hydraulic model and ship modelexperiments and analyzed the related results. In order to avoid the effect of shallowwater and water depth change, actual ship and ship model experiments had studiedmaneuverability in deep water (water depth is more than or equal to seven times thanship’s draft).The draft of Three-gorges navigation fleet is2.9m, but the depth ofapproach channel is5m, ratio of H/T is less than2, it is defined as shallow water. Inrecent years, ship often happened to accidents of grounding or collision. The groundingships has blocked the fairway and affected traffic severely. For example,5000Tcoaling cargo ship “HaiNiu No.9” happened to grounding in the middle reaches of theYangtze River channel on October2,2008.At the same day, coaling cargo ship“ShunFeng No.555” and “JiangHang No.16”also happened to grounding in the samewater area. In order to resolve the effect of shallow water to ship maneuverability, it isquite necessary to study shallow water maneuverability simulation computation.To research the ship shallow water maneuverability, we need to predict theshallow water maneuvering motions, and master the laws of the shallow watermaneuvering motions. The ship maneuvering motion equation is the core ofmaneuverability forecast. In order to study ship shallow water maneuverability,shallow water maneuvering motion equation is needed to be provided. Themaneuvering motion equation of deep water and shallow water is same in the form, theprimary difference is hydrodynamic coefficients variation. Many people at home andabroad had done extensive research on shallow water maneuverability, but systemresearch is little or no. The paper is built on reading a large number of literature,combined with advanced theory and part of experience formula of shallow watermaneuverability, shallow water maneuvering motion equation has been obtained bystudying the force of ship and combining with deep water maneuvering motionequation.The computer programming is based on MATLAB R20009B, the simulation ofship shallow water maneuvering forecast has been built. In order to confirm feasibility,the author has done the shallow water simulation computation for Three-gorges navigation fleets, and found that simulation computation results is similar to shipmodel test results. The simulation computation results can be used as reference forThree-gorge navigation fleets shallow water maneuverability.Because ability is limited, the deficiency is unavoidable in the computer program,will request earnestly fellow teachers to give the criticism to point out mistakes. Theauthor will continue to be engaged in the field of work in the after job, to make it moremature and perfect.
