As the growth of the trade, the number of ship within port is growing fast, existing collision risk early warning mechanism of VTS equipment gradually cannot meet the needs of port management, put a lot of pressure on VTS personnel monitor. By reading the literature and analyzing the current development of VTS and ship collision risk of early warning, with doing the research in Xiamen VTS, have a insight into the existed problem in ship collision risk early warning such as the inappropriate threshold setting of DCPA and TCPA, the mistake warning etc. It’s necessary to explore new methods of collision risk of early warning,so as to make timely prediction. In this article, at the development of tutor team’s research of collision risk threshold calculation model in open sea he following research work done were:(1)For the current problem of VTS and ship collision risk early warning, at the development of estimation method of SDA and SDAmin in open sea, put ship limited speed in port. Different kinds of ship’s maneuverability were taken into consideration, then establish estimation model of SDA and SDAmin for port.(2)Through the expert consultation, summarize the common practice of collision avoidance in different areas in port, and through the way of combining theoretical analysis and simulation experiment to achieve control delay estimation model in which ship adopt different rudder angle redirection and reduction method(the reverse or parking deceleration).(3)Analyze ship encounter situation by relative motion geometric analysis method, considering the difficulty of collision avoidance measures and confirming the model of collision risk threshold; On the basis of establishing a quantitative model for initial collision avoidance, the optimal timing of the initial collision avoidance as collision risk evaluation model is put and then multi-objective ship’s collision risk is sorted.(4)Put the warning algorithm integration into our independent research and development of Ship Intelligent Control(Ship Intelligent Handle and Control, referred to as SIHC) simulation platform by VC++. utilizing DMI model simulation results to verify collision risk early warning model for port. Through more than two ship’s collision risk to verify experiment, preliminary discussion on the collision risk model, being integrated into IVTS(intelligent VTS) to carry out ship collision risk warning on IVTS. Finally, it can initially implement the function of warning information intelligently display and automatic transmission.
