With the speeding up of urbanization and motorization, conflict of traffic demand and space limitation intensified, the domestic urban congestion, problems of traffic pollution and energy consumption become increasingly serious. Organizing urban traffic micro-circulation as an important method in order to solve the problem of urban traffic land has received more and more attention, how to effectively use the internal network sharing the city traffic, organizing travel activities of residents and do not damage residential inner life at the same time, become the core research of the micro-circulation system function optimization in recent years. In order to solve the city traffic problem from the root, we need to focus on the reliability of circulation,and residents’ travel demand, city traffic flow as so on, in order to achieve the convenience of life, and the healthy and orderly development of the city traffic.This paper based on the research of scholars both at home and abroad, combined with their own understanding, believe that residential traffic microcirculation is not only a traffic engineering or transportation planning problem, but a relationship to the city sustainable development, residential street vitality and social problems of community spirit. Refine the definition of residential traffic microcirculation and puts forward residential traffic microcirculation is the use of residential streets within the scope of system organize transport and residential street activities, to coordinate residential house of fast and slow traffic, traffic and residents’ life and leisure activities, protect health street activities orderly, to improve the micro initiative, to the flow of the traffic efficiency, safety, low pollution and city life comfortable, energy promotion purpose.Based on different model of residential location, construction of Chengdu field investigation, from residential construction patterns, residential street patterns, residential street space environment, residential traffic organization situation with residents life four aspects carries on the analysis research, Divid residential morphology types into "net-mesh structure model," "thin net-mesh structure mode", "net-net dendritic" mode, and "sparse network-network (ring) dendritic pattern" four types. Organizational characteristics for different types of residential traffic microcirculation, and residents’ behavior characteristics, to meet the needs of residential urban traffic organization and residents life, Notliving area traffic microcirculation organization optimization and space optimization strategies from the aspects of traffic and street network organization, traffic living facilities and space network and environmental,the convenient of living in the settlements, to slow traffic problem and increasing public transport accessibility comfort and convenience for urban traffic, Especially slow walk through, provides the possibility for the motorized transportation passing through, increasing settlements and urban street traffic permeability.
