At present, the construction industry of China faces lots of problems such as weakness of common technology foundation, low level of industrialization, backward management, and other issues, which are big contrast compared with the current booming development of the industry. Meanwhile, the construction industry has not yet fully established mechanisms for modernization. Therefore in the construction industry, it is valuable and significant to promote the application of new technologies, new materials, new techniques for improving the efficiency, facilitating the traditional level of technology innovation, training and remodeling core competitiveness of enterprise, and enhancing economic development.Firstly, this paper systematically summarizes and analyzes the problems in various aspects of the current domestic and international large-scale construction project implementation stage, and then studies the structure design, construction technology, construction management and project cost optimization of the large-scale construction projects, in order to meet the demands with the optimal solution.Secondly, through the theoretical analysis of building information model (BIM) technology and software applications, this paper summarizes the present problems of design and construction of our construction companies in large-scale construction project. Considering the engineering environment of A hotel expansion project structural features, it is necessary to combine BIM technology with appropriate software technology to optimize the design:(1) Use Revit to build modeling, then use API to transform and extract the model data to link different professional programs, and use PKPM to design the structure and check it with ETABS; (2) use Autodesk Revit MEP software for pipeline collision detection for Electrical and mechanical engineering, use Navisworks software to achieve multi-disciplinary coordination and management; (3) for detailed design, use software Xsteel 13.0 to design complex reinforced nodes; (4) in the stages of construction and management, use BIM-based visualization techniques to make optimal analysis of construction equipment, and to propose improvements for integrated technology platform, steel truss floor boards technology,foundation pile head technology; (5) use Autodesk Navisworks Simulate software to make the four-dimensional simulation of the construction project, tracking and assisting materials management, material statistics, to provide evidence for the rational use of material and precise control costs.Finally, this paper introduces the theoretical application of Value Engineering in cost control of construction project, combining with A hotel expansion project to analyze the Value Engineering in cost control. Then it points out the importance of the application of Value Engineering in the construction industry.The introduction of BIM technology which achieves a data synchronization model with dynamic changes state of construction project improves the accuracy and efficiency of the construction budget of the project, data sharing through the information network, resource and realizes optimum of resources and benefits. Value Engineering that bases on engineering data and experience in similar cases, analyzes the key objects to fulfill the requirements with a purpose. With the coming of knowledge economy era, our understanding on construction project management will be more profound. The application of value engineering in construction engineering project will have a wide developmental foreground.
