Butterfly valve has been widely used in the engineering with its the structure characteristics. In response to demand of the market, the butterfly valve needs to develop in the direction of high temperature,high pressure,high quality and high performance. The traditional butterfly valve design research methods take long time,spend expensive,low precision.With the development of computer technology, numerical simulation technology, fluid mechanics,many scholars have already begun start from the numerical simulation and finite element analysis method, with the aid of software to research on theoretical or structure optimization of butterfly valves.Firstly, the flow characteristics of butterfly valve steady flow field is analyzed. On this basis, it simulates the butterfly valve transient flow field in the case of the inlet velocity change with mutation and sinusoidal variation. It mainly researches the influence of velocity and pressure distribution contours of flow field, the change of the parameter value and the stability of the flow field, which caused by different openings with the same flow changes and different flow field changes with the same opening. At the end,the butterfly plate structure is improved.Uniflow/double fluid-structure coupling analysis are carried out on the butterfly valve to check its maximum stress, maximum deformation and the location. After analysis we find that: both the analysis results show that the stress and deformation in the seal ring and the valve body contact area is the largest. By comparison, uniflow fluid-structure coupling calculation results largely differ with two-way fluid-structure interaction. It appearances that the maximum stress of the coupling surface, the maximum deformation, the maximum stress and the maximum strain of the former is bigger than that of the latter, especially the stress and strain difference is more obvious.Use thermal analysis to simulate the cooling process of butterfly valve, to monitor the process of temperature chang e along with time of the major parts,to check the maximum temperature position in the cooling process of butterfly valve. After comparing the temperature field distribution at different moments,confirmed that the highest temperature zone mainly concentrate in the area where pressure sleeve and filler contact with the valve stem, and lowest temperature zone centered around the upper end of bracket and the valve stem.
