Research On The Design And Application Of Small Steel Bridge In Urban Parks

As cities continue to grow, steel is being adopted in the construction of bridges more than ever before. Meanwhile, due to their unique appearances, steel structure bridges are widely used in urban parks. This thesis begins with literature review and case studies, then emphasizes on the design and application of small steel structure bridges in urban parks. First, this thesis explores the design of small steel bridges in three aspects:superstructure, substructure and subsidiary facilities. Additionally, color design is also discussed to complement the argument. Then the application of small steel bridges in urban parks is thoroughly reviewed in three aspects:improving circulation, enriching spatial experience and enlightening the views. The relationship between bridges and the four fundamental elements of an urban park:paths, water body, topography and plants is also unveiled through this discussion. Based on the discussion above, the principles of design and application of small steel bridges in urban parks are summarized and explained. In the end, suggestions are made to solve problematic issues that occur in current small steel bridge constructions. The thesis is concluded with the prospect of future small steel bridge construction by taking relative subjects into consideration.
