This paper studies the road widening for the western mountains. First of all, because of terrain limitations, compared to the new roads, the old way of broadening in the western mountains has a greater advantage in the economic cost considerations. But for the new roadbed filler, most of the surface of the region is red clay, which is not optimal packing. But transporting them from other places has a high cost, so we select to use geogrid reinforced soil; Secondly, whether this choice,which we select to use geogrid reinforced soil, can achieve the requirements of pressure or deformation after we widen the road, which kind of geogrid reinforced can we choose, how many layers of geogrid we are laying are more reasonable, how can geogrids and red clay connect, and how they effect together, This paper is based on the laboratory study conducted by our group, we will have a brief review for geogrid reinforced clay test, and have a further inquiry for reinforcing mechanism; For the rode which is widened, it not only need to withstand a static load effect, but also need to withstand the effect of road traffic dynamic load, the difference of different frequency of dynamic load has a great impact on roadbed. while previous studies mainly simplify the dynamic load for static loads to effect on the road, which is inconsistent to the actual project. So, after we analyzes and studies, we think reducing the role of dynamic load to the sine wave load is more actual; at the same time, in order to verify whether the geogrid reinforced embankment can fully play its role broadened under dynamic loading, we use finite element simulation tools and physical and mechanical parameters obtained by laboratory tests related materials, to widen the embankment geogrid reinforced clay modeling, analysis under different loads and the frequency of the different layers in the implant When the number of geogrids, displacement and stress roadbed and the forces grill. And one by contrast, in order to validate and explore whether the reinforced soil embankment widened can fully play its role in different frequencies of traffic loads.According to the above work, we get some useful conclusions, which not only have a certain reference value for geogrid reinforced soil broaden engineering design and calculation of actual roadbed, but also provide a foundation for further studies.
