With the development of modern science and technology, when more and more military or civil equipment are in normal working, they all need a high precision platform, such as vehicle radar, tank fire control debugging equipment, asphalt paver and so on. Because of the fast, accurate, high reliability plays a decisive role to improve the mobility of on-board equipment, but as the traditional manual leveling method, the leveling time is longer, the leveling precision is relatively poor, and it’s not easy to control. So the study on automatic leveling technology is an urgent demand and higer requirements.The purpose of this paper is to research a general leveling experiment system, which provides the hardware and softwar basis for further development of the practical application system. First, the paper analyzes the control requirements and major working methods of the automatic leveling control system of the platform. The scheme of the system is designed from the aspects of drive selection, the method of support main controller, and the method of leveling. The components of the hardware system are introduced and the main elements are selected. Secondly, this paper focuses on the leveling strategies of the leveling control system. The combination of rough leveling and accurate leveling is put forward as a leveling method, which greatly shorten the leveling time. The “virtual leg” is judged by using the pressure sensor, and it can reduce the possibility of “virtual leg” in a certain extent. Finally the whole flow and important sub-flows of the automatic leveling control system are designed. Then the software of the automatic leveling control system is designed. The work principle and developing environment of software of the single chip microcomputer AT89C52 is introduced. The software of the system is designed, which consist of the system initialize, control algorithm and every subroutine.Finally, through a combination of the mechanical part and the electrical part, the system is debugged. The system achieves the expected control requirements, which effectively shorten the leveling time, improve leveling accuracy and increased reliability. It lay a solid foundation for further application development for the future.
