Transient Rayleigh Wave method is one of non-destructive testing techniques rising in recent years. The method has the characteristics of high resolution, fast and convenience, wide range of applications, easy operating, etc, so it has a relatively wide applications in the field of engineering geological exploration and quality testing. Rayleigh wave exploration technique makes use of dispersion characteristics of its surface wave propagation in the medium, through establishing the relationship between Rayleigh wave speed and physical and mechanical parameters of medium to inverse and explain the properties of underground media. Therefore, the ability to obtain the dispersion curves with highly accurate and a true reflection of the stratigraphic information has become an important issue of Rayleigh wave technology. This paper focus on the research and discussion of applying Rayleigh wave method in highway engineering quality testing. On the basis of previous research, using the improved Knopoff algorithm on the forward modeling of frequency dispersion curve, and establish different structural model to analyse Influence factors of Rayleigh wave dispersion curve. By comparison of currently available calculation method of Rayleigh wave dispersion curve, bring an improved algorithm-f-v method-which improve the accuracy of the frequency dispersion curve extraction and application effect. According to extensive field testing practices, make a systematically expounded of the test method, and analyze the factors affecting the accuracy of the measured data. On research of subgrade compaction detection Qi Ji freeway, evaluation of San Xi highway foundation consolidation and Bao Feng highway crack depth probe, establishing inversion empirical regression equation of the measured dispersion curve between Rayleigh wave velocity and Experience subgrade soil compaction degree, and evaluation of the impact effects by using the Rayleigh wave method, and which achieved good results.
