As a new type of public transport modes, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has been widely used at home and abroad. The key to improve service level and the ability to attract more passengers is optimizing the route combination dispatch. Thus we can improve the utilization rate of buses, bus lanes, signal passing priority and make the most of BRT. This paper uses reliability theory to study the route dispatch optimizing of BRT. Including a introduction of route dispatch optimizing, reliability analysis of BRT, a route dispatch optimizing model based on reliability restraint and numerical examples. The specific work is as followed:1. Introduce the basic concept, basic characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of route dispatch optimizing, analyze the factors that affect route dispatch optimizing. Then propose a method to optimize route dispatch based on the traffic characteristics of BRT.2. Based on the network reliability theory and common bus reliability studies, propose the definition of BRT reliability and analyze the indicators of BRT reliability. Aiming at the characteristics of route dispatch optimizing, choose system reliability and transfer reliability as restraint and provide the algorithm.3. Analyze the route dispatch benefit in detail, use the weight sum of operation benefit and social benefit as the max objective function, system reliability and transfer reliability as restraints and build the route dispatch optimizing model. The optimizing variables are the stop site options and departure frequency of standard route, rapid route, section route. At last genetic algorithm are used to solve the model.4. Choose the line 1 of BRT in Hangzhou as example to prove the route dispatch optimizing method we proposed. Use MATLAB to program the algorithm and testify the feasibility and effectiveness of the method and model.
