BLDCM(Brushless DC electric motor) is a kind of innovative motor developed with the power electronics technology progress. Using electronic commutation mechanism to instead of mechanical commutation mechanism, BLDCM has the advantage of higher running efficiency, less excitation loss, better speed control performance, and reduces the manufacturing and maintenance costs at the same time. Therefore, the application research of BLDCM is currently a hot topic.This paper first reviews the development process of BLDCM and summarizes the current research state domestic and abroad, then gives elaborated description of the basic structure, working principle and the position sensors of BLDCM. On the basis of a detailed mathematical model of BLDCM deduced by the above material, this paper gives analysis of the various PWM modulation impact to BLDCM commutation torque ripple, and the reasonable BLDCM drive system control strategy.Based on the above work, BLDCM drive system with TI’s DSP TMS320F2812 as the core control component is constructed, which includes the power supply circuit, driver circuit, inverter, signal detection and protection circuit, opto-isolation circuit and buttons, display and other components.The BLDCM drive system actual test results shows this system has fast response, small overshoot, stable performance, etc., which achieves the desired goals. Finally, a summary of the entire design scheme and the BLDCM drive system future development prospect are deployed.
