The queuing theory is one kind of science to research the crowding phenomenon which is subjected to various stochastic factors and it is an important branch of operational research. The queuing phenomenon is quite common in our daily life. Along with social progress and the rapid development of economy and the improving gradually of people’s living standards, buying the car becomes one choice for most families for traveling to more convenient. But at the same time, it can’t be ignored that the social problems and environmental pollution problems brought by the traffic congestion. So it is imperative to improve traffic conditions and to ensure that the people travel smoothly.In this article, to solve the above problems, we collect a vast amount of data to explore the optimal cycle of signal and green-time-rate in the traffic control problems by queuing theory.In the first chapter, it mainly introduces the background, the main researching method, the state of development of the queuing theory at home and abroad and the key components.In the second chapter, we introduce the mathematical theory which is used by establishing the traffic control system. It contains:several probability distributions; several processes; maximum likelihood method and χ2 goodness of fit test and so on.In the third chapter, it mainly tells the basic composition of the queuing theory, explores the research contents, characteristics, constitutes and the classification of the generic queuing system and establishes the vehicle queuing system which this article researches.In the forth chapter, we introduce the collection and handling method of the original data and research the distributions that the customers’ arrival time and service time based on the practical vehicle queue model. Upon, introduce the imitation train of thought, and give the simulation and analysis the result.The fifth chapter summarizes the article probably and looks forward to the future.
