Through human civilization history, the using of fire is a key symbol, a priceless contribution,it plays an important role in the progress of human society, as we can say that an history of using fire is an history of human civilization. Nevertheless,everything has two sides, the using of fire made human enter the era of civilization but once out of control, it’ll put human’s life and treasure in danger and bring disaster to them. As the development of human society and booming of material, the fire accident is more likely to happen and cause more loss, furthermore it has bad influence on growth of economy and stability of the society. Building fire does the most damage to human among all fire accidents, there are many reasons, such as high personnel density,high fire loading. Once there is a fire accident, treasure lost, people dead and injured. So research on fire accident has attracted attention of all sectors of society and has become major tasks. As the development of information technology, research on fire simulation and personnel evacuation has developed fast. Fire simulation can demonstrate the transfer process of heat and smoke, more importantly it will provide prompt precise experiment data for fire accident analysis. Research on personnel evacuation may predict the necessary evacuation time precisely, therefore provide favourable analysis tool for building fire safety study. In order to understand the spreading and developing rule of building fire and situation of personnel evacuation, applying fire simulation software Pyrosim and personnel evacuation simulation software Pathfinder to build models to simulate a college’s laboratory building with four fire scenes. Focused research on smoke spreading condition in a fire process, through a comparative analysis on fire simulation and personnel evacuation result, synthesize all the factors to find out fire risk and fire hazard factors of the case building. Result shows that the model is able to simulate the condition of fire accident and personnel evacuation in the laboratory building. Made a significant meaning to standard fire prevention management, arrange fire extinguishing system and personnel safety evacuation in laboratory building. This paper will provide a consultative idea to fire development process research, safety analysis and personnel evacuation in fire accident situation.
