Retro-reflective material using the principle of transparent objects catadioptric is widely used in the transport sector for nighttime identification, clothing identification, and highway signs requiring visual identification of occasions. When the retro-reflective material used in the construction of outer skin to improve its reflectance, the outer skin of the building can reduce the absorption of solar radiation, thereby reducing the temperature of the exterior walls, and saving air-conditioning energy in summer. Meanwhile, Application of a material which can retro-reflect the light and heat in the urban outer surface, so that solar radiation can reflect back along its original direction. It can effectively reduce the total absorption of solar radiation and inhibit the temperature rise in the street, therefore it can better alleviate the urban heat island effect.In this paper, the retro-reflective material is affixed retro-reflective material with and without the same enclosure housing two sizes in the same outdoor climatic conditions, experimental comparison tests of indoor air temperature and the temperature variation of the wall surface. And according to the characteristics of climatic conditions, separately analyze retro-reflective material insulation of the building’s cooling characteristics and laws in summer and winter transition season. Meanwhile, use the energy-saving design software PKPM to analysis energy consumption and economy. The primary work that we discussed in this thesis includes:(1) Using retro-reflective material in summer has significant cooling insulation capability. Two internal cabinet temperature may be up to 7.6 ℃, the minimum is 2.6 ℃, the average was 5.4 ℃, the cooling effect is clearly saving. Ordinary cabinet indoor temperature is much higher than outdoor air max, there is a clear greenhouse effect, the maximum temperature of 11.3 ℃, a minimum of 7.7 ℃, an average of 9.6 ℃.(2) The transitional seasons of retro-reflective material has a certain cooling insulation. Two internal cabinet temperature may be up to 5.5 ℃, the minimum is 1.3 ℃, the average was 3.2 ℃, cooling the material back but significantly less than the summer heat insulation effect. At the top of the largest amount of solar radiation received, so the most obvious effect of cooling insulation, can reduce the wall surface temperature can reach 10.3 ℃, the average was 6.5 ℃.(3) In winter because of buildings need solar radiation, while the retro-reflective material to reflect solar radiation, it will have the opposite effect. Normal average temperature inside the box 13.4 ℃, while the retro-reflective internal cabinet average temperature 12.8 ℃.(4) Using energy-saving design software PKPM to simulation retro-reflective material in Mianyang office building energy. It results in the Sichuan region using the material can bring great energy efficiency.(5) Through the analysis of the economics of the construction, the use of retro-reflective material can not only save resources, but also has good economic, dynamic payback period of 5.4 years. In the Sichuan region has good applicability.
