In recent years, with the development of Chinese educational industry, there is an obvious increase of new-built universities and colleges. However, cultural atmosphere is rarely found in these academic institutions. Environmental color is an essential factor in the creation of cultural atmosphere. The top universities in the world like, Harvard University, Yale University and Tsinghua University, are full of plenty of profound cultural background. In contrast, a serious problem appears that the environmental color is out of line in the large number of new colleges. For instance, there is a lack of interaction between new architectural color and old one. Either is the color management. The several factors and creating methods of excellent color environment is the essay’s key point.Universities, as a building type, are owned by various countries around the world, which inherit culture of different countries. The outline of the architecture also can reflect its country’s cultural implications. In recent years, regional culture is a hot topic discussed among designers and related departments. The architecture of universities has become the focus of attention in the regional cultures. And it will analyze the impact the city color has to architectural color, which starts from the region of architectural color. It also summarizes several principles through analyzing physical and psychological features of architectural colors from architectural system. Chapter Four focuses on "plant color" part, which summarizes the features of plant color from their natural growth characters. And it can summarize complete color system through analyzing the relationship between color of any part of plant and environmental and seasonal factors. Chapter Five focuses on the color construction of pavement and other factors. This part is the systematic research for the connect of pavement system between plants and architectures.The essay is accomplished based on analyzing quantities of cases and field research. The final conclusion might not be a complete designing guidance, however, it offers a set of designing principles to explore the future development for campus environmental color.
