Study Of The Vernacular Settlement Border Landscape Morphology Characteristics

The border is an important part of vernacular settlement’s spatial form. And as the facade of settlement, border landscape reflects the regional style and characteristics. This thesis treats “the border region”as the study object, and discusses the plane shape, the space form and the emotional elements of the settlement border landscape from two aspects- the macroscopic two-dimensional level and the microscopic spatial experience level, in order to explore the type, the constitute elements, the organization law and the evolution of the border landscape morphology, as well as the deeper reason behind it. The innovation of the thesis is treating the border as a transitional region, which is a combination of a series of spaces intrinsically linked and can accommodate people’s behavior and mental activities, which is different from the previous study seeing it as an isolated linear element. The thesis includes three main parts.The first part is an introduction. It describes the origin; clear the background, purpose and meaning; defines the object and scope of the study; determines the scope, perspectives, methods and the technological pathway through the summarize of domestic and abroad study of the settlement, the vernacular landscape, the settlement border and so on. This part defines the research object, in order to determine the study sequence from plain to spatial and emotional shape, and from macro landscape to micro landscape.The second part of the thesis is the basic research. Describes the origin of the object of study, the regional context, the relationship between the border and other structural elements are also discussed. To discuss from both origin and causes aspects is to complete the vertical and horizontal cognition of the border landscape, so that the dynamic nature and influence factor is emphasized.The third part is the solution of the study and analysis of the problem. On the basis of vernacular settlement boundary classification, deeply explores the border landscape morphological characteristics of plain shape, spatial form and emotional morphology. From these perspectives, namely analyzes the border landscape’s spatial composition, evolution and the influence factors, and summarizes their characteristics. Among them, the spatial form characteristics are discussed based on the human vision and feeling of space as a standard, the analysis and summarize work is doing from the distant, medium and close-range levels. The vernacular settlement border landscape also includes a lot of emotional factors. At the emotional morphology part, discuss the border’s emotional constitute way and characteristics from three aspects-the emotional experience subject, object, and the generation mechanism.Finally, the thesis summarizes the main points of innovation, and looks ahead to the issue of the vernacular settlement border landscape morphology study and development.
